5 Ways to Lower Humidity in Your Home
December 21, 2020
There are a few reasons your home could be high in humidity, especially living here in Florida. Here are a five tips from Scott’s One Hour Air Conditioning and Heating to help lower your humidity levels.
- Seal Windows and Doors
It may seem simple, but if your doors and windows are not sealed properly, it could lead to higher humidity levels. When the unit is running, it sucks all that hot, humid air from outside into your living area. Make sure windows and doors are tightly sealed.
- Use a Dehumidifier
The sole purpose of a standalone dehumidification system is to remove moisture from the air. It pumps the moisture out as it runs and disposes it down the drain line.
- Check Your System’s Refrigerant
Your system could be low on refrigerant. If that’s the case, your unit won’t get cold enough to remove humidity from the home.
- Inspect Your Ductwork
If your ductwork is leaking or not properly size, you could be air-conditioning your attic, which we don’t want to do. You also might not get proper circulation in your home.
- Install a Thermostat with Dehumidification Controls
Certain thermostats run solely to dehumidify the air. They run at a low air speed and remove the moisture. There are several different systems to choose from, and we can help you decide which one is best for your home.
