Common Maintenance to Prevent Air Conditioning Problems
July 5, 2016
Now that’s it summer in Minneapolis, the last thing you want is for your air conditioner to stop working. The professionals at Northern's One Hour Heating & Air Conditioning® have put together some of our most common maintenance tips that can help prevent air conditioning problems.
Change Your Ail Filter
One of the most common causes of air conditioning problems can be a clogged or dirty filter. Check, change, or clean your air filter at least every three months so airflow is not restricted through the filter.
Clean Your Condenser
If your air conditioner is having trouble cooling your home, check your condenser. The condenser is charged with cooling the air before it gets released into the house, but the condenser can have issues functioning when it becomes clogged with dust or debris. Be proactive and clear any tall grass, branches, or other items that could block airflow and create issues with your outdoor condenser.
Call If There’s Problem
Don’t wait until your A/C unit stops working before you call a professional to service your unit. Keep up with routine maintenance and give us a call if you start to notice anything strange like:
- Strange smells coming through the vents
- Strange sounds from your air conditioner
- Warm air coming through your vents
Being proactive and handling a potential issue early can save you from having to deal with a much more expensive emergency in the future. Consider investing in an annual service plan to serve all your HVAC needs.
