How to Set Your Thermostat When You’re out of Town
May 18, 2015
This will allow you to set the thermostat to a higher or lower setting when you’re not going to be there. Over time, these savings can drastically add up and you will reap the many benefits of it.
Program the Day
If you’re not going to be home for an extended amount of time, you can reduce your energy bills by using a programmable thermostat. The first thing you may want to do is to look at your schedule for the week. This will allow you to know when you will or won’t be home. Then you should program your thermostat to accommodate this precisely.
For instance, if you’re going to be at work Monday through Thursday, you should keep the temperature in the home cooler or warmer than you’d like it if you were there. This will help reduce your energy bills and can be an ideal way to help save you money.
Set the Hour
If you leave early in the morning and come home late in the evening, you will want to program your thermostat accordingly. This will allow your home to be the perfect temperature when you arrive after a long day at work or after you’ve been out of town for an extended amount of time.
Consider having your cooling or heating unit to come on at least thirty minutes before you get to your house.
