Air Duct Sealing – Modern Technology for an Age Old Problem
February 16, 2015
A leaking air duct can lead to all sorts of problems and issues; inconsistent temperatures, smells and pollutants are just three of the most common, and up until very recently, sealing them was ‘difficult’ to say the least. Here at One Hour Heating and Air Conditioning, we like to keep abreast of all the latest technology and in the case of leaking ducts, that means AeroSeal.
Inside Out
If you can access the duct, sealing it is very easy – a quick patch up with some duct tape will last for some time, making it cheap, easy and very quick. But what happens when it’s in a duct that you can’t reach? The solution is to seal it from the inside using the latest in polymer technology.
Assessment
Before undertaking any work, we will analyze the current efficiency and seal of the ducts, we do this by blocking off any outlets and then pressurizing the system, any air escaping can only be through leaking ducts. This enables us to accurately assess the scale of the problem.
Sealing
After the initial assessment, we will then circulate a polymer sealant throughout your system, it will continue to circulate for approximately an hour. As the sealant is circulated, it will be forced out through any holes or gaps and as it does so, the polymer molecules will attach themselves to the edges of the leaks, and then start bonding to each other, thereby sealing any leaks.
Quick, Efficient & Mess-Free
Using the AeroSeal system is quick and efficient, we won’t leave any mess behind and there will be no nasty chemicals circulating in your air – you will be left with the cleanest air possible.
