Virginia Govenor Appoints Shawn Mitchell to Virginia Board For Contractors
May 7, 2019
Founder of Loudoun-based One Hour Heating & Air Conditioning® of Northern Virginia
Congratulations to our founder Shawn Mitchell!
Today Virginia Governor Ralph Northam honored our founder J. Shawn Mitchell with a gubernatorial appointment to the Virginia Board for Contractors, a committee responsible for the regulation of certain professions. The Board of Contractors is charged with overseeing construction, HVAC and other facility-improvement businesses, granting Class A, B and C contractor licenses in a variety of specialties. Existing under the Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation, this regulatory board aims to protect the public while promoting a positive business climate.
Now, Mitchell, a local entrepreneur and lifelong Virginia resident, is one of six members appointed to the Board, and the only member from Northern Virginia. The governor’s announcement is posted at Gubernatorial Appointments. Mitchell is the founder of One Hour Heating & Air Conditioning® of Northern Virginia, a Loudoun-based HVAC, Plumbing & Electrical repair contractor established in 2010.
“It’s nothing less than a tremendous honor to be appointed by Gov. Northam today and Gov. McAuliffe in 2014, to the Board of Contractors,” Mitchell said. “It’s a recognition, I believe, of the high standards we’ve set at One Hour Heating & Air Conditioning® of Northern Virginia for professionalism and craftsmanship in everything we do. I’m pleased to receive this appointment and look forward to establishing a high level of quality among contractors throughout the Commonwealth.”
The Board of Contractors meets regularly in Richmond for both Committee and Board sessions. The next scheduled meeting is June 17.
