One Hour Cares Reaches $50,000 Donation Milestone
July 28, 2016
One Hour Cares has recognized over 100 deserving Hampton Roads area charities and organizations since 2012. Awarding Youth Volunteer Corps of Hampton Roads $5,000 this month will allow them to offer scholarships to students and help fund their Summer of Service camp. It also brings One Hour Cares to another level, marking the $50,000 donation milestone.
Created to raise awareness of the little guys and girls in Hampton Roads, One Hour Cares encourages eligible applicants to make their case and submit their story. Selected finalists are featured on OneHourCares.com and receive “likes” via Facebook. A winner is chosen at random in a virtual raffle pull, so the cause with the most “likes” has the best chance of being selected but is not the guaranteed winner.
For three years, $1,000 was given every month to each winner. Seeing the tremendous impact this had on the community, One Hour Cares upped the ante by offering $5,000 for every quarter in 2016, reaching $51,000 in total donations at the end of the second quarter. In addition to the monetary donations, One Hour also offers its fleet of yellow trucks to organizations in need and encourages employees to volunteer their time.
“It’s been amazing to learn about all the great organizations here in our community,” said Todd Kletz, owner and general manager. “Now that we are offering more money every quarter, each winner is able to really make a difference.“
As Hampton Roads’ most trusted heating and air conditioning partner, we take pride in our passion for giving back to the community through these locally based organizations. Past winners include Roc Solid Foundation, Beyond Boobs, Fur-Ever Home Rescue, and Wounded Wear, just to name a few.
