Furnace Replacement – Why Spring Is the Right Time
February 8, 2018
After another winter season working hard to keep families warm, home furnaces and boilers are finally able to take a vacation and go dormant until next fall. Most homeowners are turning their attention to the air conditioner, getting their spring AC tune up (highly recommended), and forgetting about the heating system until colder weather starts to return many months from now. However, if your furnace or boiler is getting along in years, this is a perfect time to consider upgrading to a more efficient and reliable model. And at American Comfort’s One Hour Heating and Air Conditioning, we’re here to help – not push you – with that decision.
Now is the Time
The spring dilemma, if you have an older heating system that requires exponentially greater attention to keep running: Invest in a new system now, or try to squeeze another winter or two out of the existing equipment. With it being Tax Day and money issues on the mind of many, it’s easier to put off these kind of decisions. But consider that you could end up saving money in the long run with a new system that uses less energy and isn’t in constant need of repairs.
Right now is a great time to make the change. You’ll be giving yourself a time cushion to consider options and make a well informed decision. The flip side is being forced to make a hurried decision on emergency replacement when your equipment breaks down for good. And Murphy’s Law states that it will likely happen in the dead of winter.
Here are some benefits to choosing heating system replacement:
- Your new furnace, heat pump or boiler will require less upkeep.
- New HVAC models can be more efficient than your current equipment, resulting in lower energy bills.
- Older equipment can be a source of undetected carbon monoxide leaks. A new system eliminates that worry.
- Having a system installation is a great opportunity to do an HVAC spring clean. Consider having your duct system cleaned, or sealed with our Aeroseal service to improve indoor air quality and air flow in your home.
- We are currently offering $1500 off installation off high efficiency HVAC systems. Call for details and any restrictions.
Making an Informed Decision
Once you decide to move ahead with a system purchase, it’s wise to do some research with the Energy Star listings for furnaces and boilers to find the most efficient options and get the best bang for your buck. You could also consider phasing out your gas, oil or electric resistance heater entirely and choose heat pump technology, which uses differences in indoor and outdoor temperatures to heat and cool homes. Since this is newer technology, heat pumps are an energy-efficient and cost-effective option, even in the harsh winters Chicago is known for.
