Corpus, TX — In an extraordinary act of heroism, three technicians from One Hour Air Conditioning & Heating of Corpus Christi leaped into action on Tuesday, September 3rd, to help a local man who was overwhelmed by a massive bee attack.

Mr. Brewster, a retired teacher, long-serving pastor, and local landscaper, was doing routine landscaping work near the One Hour Air Conditioning & Heating building when he unknowingly disturbed a beehive. Within moments, a swarm of bees attacked him, stinging him relentlessly as he rode his lawn mower. Overcome by the situation, Mr. Brewster tried to escape, but the bees quickly overwhelmed him, causing him to fall to the ground, unable to continue his escape.

Across the street, three HVAC technicians—Joe Crouch, Yennier Moreno, and David Parker—witnessed the incident and immediately jumped into action. After calling 911, they ran toward Mr. Brewster to help, but the bees turned on them as well. Despite being stung multiple times, the technicians did not give up. They retreated momentarily but quickly returned, armed with a clever plan.

On their third attempt, the quick-thinking team wet a drop cloth with a hose and used it to cover Mr. Brewster, shielding him from getting stung any further. Thanks to their persistence, they were able to protect him until emergency responders arrived.

Mr. Brewster was rushed to the hospital, where doctors worked to remove over 200 bee stingers from his body. Medical professionals later told Mr. Brewster that without the intervention of the technicians, he may not have survived the attack.

Just two days after the terrifying event, Mr. Brewster returned to the One Hour Air Conditioning & Heating office to personally thank Joe, Yennier, and David for their brave actions. During a heartfelt meeting on September 10th, he shared his gratitude, acknowledging that their quick response saved his life.

Mr. Brewster, a true pillar of the Portland community, has dedicated his life to serving others. A retired physical education teacher at Portland Elementary, he coached countless students before transitioning to his role as a pastor and landscaping business owner. Even at 82, he continues to care for several commercial properties.

"We're in the people business, and that means more than just keeping homes comfortable," said Bernie Quintero, General Manager. "When one of our community members is in danger, we step up—no questions asked. We're incredibly proud of Joe, Yennier, and David for their bravery and selflessness."

This inspiring story of courage serves as a reminder of the power of community and the extraordinary lengths people will go to help one another in times of need. The One Hour Air Conditioning & Heating team has not only kept the Corpus Christi and Portland communities comfortable but will also step in to help a fellow community member.
