Update Your Thermostat to Save Money on Heating & AC
If you want to save money and stay comfortable, a new thermostat might be just what you need! A thermostat can help the air conditioning system in your Augusta, GA, home or business maintain an even temperature. This means that you don’t need to constantly turn your heating and air conditioning systems up and down. Better AC control could also mean hundreds of dollars a year in savings on your utility costs!
Homeowner Benefits
Here are just a few of the benefits a new thermostat could bring to your home:
- Universal 4 Heat/2 Cool
- Easy to install; simple to connect
- No “C Wire” (required for most HVAC applications)
- Intuitive Sensi App (makes thermostat programming and operation simple).
- Home temperature tailored to your needs -- comfort the moment you walk in
With a new, user-friendly thermostat, you won’t need to waste energy heating or cooling your home when you’re not there. The Sensi App connects your thermostat to your home’s Wi-Fi router without using any additional accessories or gateway. Once it’s connected, you can adjust your home’s temperature from anywhere, with just a touch. You always have control of the comfort of your home.

Thermostat Replacement
When your old thermostat is on the fritz, you should replace it, instead of repairing it. This is especially true if you don’t have a smart thermostat with digital capabilities. Smart thermostats offer significantly more efficiency; you can program your air conditioning or heating to be on only when you are home. A trained professional can simply and quickly replace your thermostat. If you are thinking of replacing your thermostat, contact an expert at Duggan's One Hour Heating & Air Conditioning®.

Thermostat Protection Services
A thermostat is an electronic device. As such, it is susceptible to shocks and short-circuiting. We can protect your thermostat and keep it running without error.
Cost to Replace Thermostat
The cost to replace a thermostat can vary. It all depends on the type of thermostat, installation and labor costs.
Advanced AC Technology
Our thermostat products are some of the most advanced available; we carry virtually all major brands. We also offer the programmable thermostats so popular with local Augusta residents these days. Many of these devices can actually keep your home or business on a consistent temperature schedule. You select the settings and the times. One of the best ways to save money on utility bills is to turn your thermostat down when you’re away. You may not always remember to manually change the setting. By using a programmable thermostat, you set the thermostat once. It will do the rest of the work for you.
Programmable Thermostat Technology
The system we recommend and install is Sensi’s Wi-Fi Programmable Thermostat. This particular one is preferred by our Duggan team because it aligns with a mobile app, working with Wi-Fi technology. It also:
- Is simple and user-friendly
- Has an easy, instant installation
- Works with preexisting wiring
- Is energy efficient
- Allows your home to be the perfect temperature -- all the time, every time
- Puts you “in control of your comfort!”
You can use your phone – or other Wi-Fi enabled devices – to adjust the temperature at home or away on your Sensi. This is really an awesome new technology for families on the go. It saves you money with its automatic adjustments, while keeping your home energy efficient.

Will I be able to change my thermostat settings during a cycling event?
A cycling event involves a radio signal that is sent to your programmable thermostat in an effort to save energy and cut down on your electricity bill costs. Your programmable thermostat may set itself to a particular temperature – usually 80 degrees. You, as the owner of the thermostat, are in control, which means you can set specific heating and cooling for the thermostat – even during a cycling event. You can program the thermostat to set forward during the event. For example, if you normally have the thermostat at 76 degrees, during the event the air would be set to 80 degrees instead. This only lasts until the event has come to a conclusion, however. If you are unsure how to set up the system, call Duggan's One Hour Heating & Air Conditioning® today with any questions. We would be more than happy to help you set up your programmable thermostat.
How do I find out what the voltage is coming into my thermostat?
Most residential homes use one of three different thermostat systems: low-voltage, high-voltage, and Millivolt systems. A Millivolt system generally involves wall heaters or floor heaters. You may not be able to electrically detect the wires, making a test of the voltage quite difficult without help from a professional. In high-voltage thermostats, 2-4 thick wires come from the very back. Use a voltage tester or bring in a professional to check the voltage. For low-voltage systems, you may remove the cover and find copper wires within. You may then test the system to find the exact voltage being used by the thermostat. However, it would be best to bring in a professional expert who understands the intricacies of wiring and thermostats. We can send in a professional to handle a voltage check, in order to ensure that nothing goes wrong. Many homeowners do not fully understand wiring, but try to perform the job themselves anyway.
