Top Summer AC Maintenance Tips
June 14, 2015
The key to staying as cool in your home as you want to be is by properly maintaining your AC unit. This is by far the best way to find any potential problems before these become costly repairs. The best way to complete this task is by knowing ways to maintain your unit regardless of the heat outdoors.
Change your Filter
One of the best ways to keep the air in your home cool is by putting in a new air filter as necessary. Most experts agree that you should install a new air filter every one to three months for the best results. Air filters are relatively inexpensive and can be bought in bundles at your local hardware store and even in some grocery stores. Take the time to purchase one and change it when needed.
Clean the Condenser Bin
The humidity in summer can cause your condenser bin to become full. This could decrease the efficiency of your unit and it should be checked and drained during the months of summer. Take the time to do this at the beginning of the summer months and even once a month for the best possible results.
De-clutter Your Outside Unit
It’s critical to the performance of your AC unit to keep all debris away from it. This means removing fallen limb, leaves and cutting the grass around it. Over time, this unit can become cluttered and it’s important to keep it clean.
