Lower Costs with Programmable Thermostats
October 22, 2013
Many homeowners dread getting that energy bill in the mail each month. Unless you have your bills subsidized, you never know what you are going to have to pay for your monthly energy usage. You may feel powerless when it comes to controlling your energy costs; however, there are several ways that you can directly impact your monthly energy bill, including installing programmable thermostats, changing your filter, and lowering the temperature on your water heater. Duggan's One Hour Heating & Air Conditioning® can perform all of these tasks and more.
- Install a Programmable Thermostat: Programmable thermostats will help to lower your energy bill by allowing you to adjust the temperature in your home by a few degrees at various times during the day. For instance, while you are at work and at night, you can adjust the temperature in your home by a few degrees.
- Change Your Filter: A clogged filter can reduce your furnace efficiency by making your furnace work harder, using more energy in the process. If your filter is discolored or has visible debris, it is time for a new one.
- Lower your water heater temperature: Lower your water temperature to 120 degrees Fahrenheit to save up to 3 to 5 percent on your energy bill. If that simply isn’t enough to supply your household with hot water for laundry and showers, try raising it slightly.
Duggan's One Hour Heating & Air Conditioning® is the Augusta HVAC service to call when you want to lower your monthly energy bill. We can help you check the efficiency of your furnace, as well as supply your home with some money-saving programmable thermostats. Call us at (706) 914-1617 today!
